Books vs Film

Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they're yours!

Richard Bach, Illusions

Which is better? Books or films?

Readers of books would argue that books are better. Books can soar to new heights. You are limited only by your imagination. But in order to lose yourself in the book, you would need an active imagination and patience to read the words. Especially if the book involves a long, long, long and detailed narrative. But once you lose yourself in the book, there's nothing to stop you. And that's the best part about reading a book.

Moviegoers would argue that movies are better. Especially if the movie is based on a book. Especially if the book is a required reading for the semester! Movies are colourful (literally and figuratively!), sometimes very loud and you are not required to use your imagination...much. You just sit there and get ready for a ride. It's a nice way of passing the time and spending time with friends and loved ones. Fun as movies are, they have limitations. Like budgets and other stuffs. But it encourages the moviemakers to be creative. Getting around and moving beyond the limitation, often produces unbelievable results.

I love them both.
