Internet Marketing Myth

Hi, I’m back.
I just finished perusing my collection of e-books and softwares, trying to decide which one to do first. Before I begin, I’ll say this. As a rule, I try to avoid buying if I have to. Hey, free stuff is the way to go, right? Well, sometimes.

I’ve been scammed more times than I care to remember. I’ve spent thousands on worthless programmes, e-books, what-nots, from the so-called ‘gurus’ on the internet. When I first stumbled on Internet Marketing, I had no one and nothing to guide me. I bought into the hype of easy money. “Sit-back-and- do-nothing-and-your-business-will-grow” kind of thing. Hogwash. Utter nonsense. No such thing. If only I knew then what I know now. (Sigh!)

Nohing I can do about it now. I simply accept it as part of my learning process and move on. Enough said. On to the report.

I’ve finished reading Dan B. Cauthron’s Internet Marketing Myth Exposed. It was a real eye opener. The report exposed most of the pitfalls that Internet Marketeers (especially newbies!) fall into. Like making money without having to study and read first. The keywords that all of us should be looking at are research, study, analyse. Don’t fall into the trap of ‘if you build it, they will come’. As Dan puts it, it’s not Hollywood. Building a website is only the first step. The next step is to promote, promote and promote. Now that takes work.

Who to promote to? That’s where the mailing list comes in. He doesn’t recommend buying a mailing list, because in a lot of cases, genuine Internet Marketeers have been accused of spamming. He doesn’t tell you how to build a mailing list, though. (I think I have an e-book on that, I’ll have to search in my book drawer for that one). A public forum and FFA (Free For All) Ads don’t work, either. I’ve personally tested the FFA, and it’s true, they don’t work. What it does is increase the amount of spam e-mails that flood in my inbox, though. A public forum is just that, a forum. A meeting place to discuss ideas, not to advertise.

Also, it’s best to develop your people skills. A lot of people think that simply because Internet Marketing doesn’t involve actual meeting and talking to people, you can take people skills out of the equation. Not true. What you write reflect on the person that you are. People can actually tell from your writing. Some people think that being a jerk is a good thing. I think it’s in bad taste. You can formulate your own opinion.

After reading right through the end, I come to the conclusion that marketing on the internet involves a lot of hard work, research, reading and studying. More often than not, you will fail before you succeed. Persevere and you’ll make it. When you start marketing, you will hear a lot of success stories, what you don’t hear as often are the failures and hard work that precedes that success.

And on that note, HAPPY READING!

Blogsvertise

Welcome back.

I found this site called Blogsvertise a.k.a How to Earn Revenue/Income from Your Blog. You can visit this at http://www.blogsvertise.com/ or just check out the outside link on the side bar. It's an interesting site where you are assigned tasks by the administrator to write about in your blog. It should be about 2-3 paragraphs long and approximately 75 words long. You must also include 3 links to the site your're writing about in your blog and the tasks must be completed within 5 days of being e-mailed to you.

You don't have to endorse the advertiser's site, complain about it, if you wish. Just write. If you're using the advertiser's products and services, write how you like it (or don't like it!), or how it changes your life. Then the people at http://www.blogsvertise.com/ will pay you using your paypal.

The catch? None I can see so far. Oh, you must have a blog first. And a PayPal account.

No pornographic / adult content is allowed. Your entry must remain online and be permanent. And as part of the signing up process, you're supposed to write about http://www.blogsvertise.com/ in your entry just so they know you know what it's all about. Signing up is pretty easy, you fill in a few things, and voila! it's all done. It's the approval part that's a bit harder. Will this writer's blog be approved? We'll see.

Since this blog is fairly new, I still have some adjustments to make. I have another blog site that I've tweaked since last year. It's a site where I ramble, rant and basically talk about nothing and everything. Anything that crosses my mind. Call it my punching bag if you will. You can check it out at http://merahkecik.blogspot.com/ . Leave a comment if you wish.

Until next time,

First Post

Welcome to Lacibuku!

I've started this blog a while back, only I didn't have time to do anything it at that time. Actually, I started this project initilly as a website, but as time progresses, I found my website getting bigger and bigger, so I decided to scale it down a bit and blog it instead. It's faster and easier, I think.

Alright. Introductions first. My name is Fatimah. I am 30+. I have been fiddling around with Internet Marketing for a few years now, with varying degrees of success. I've gotten to know a few people who's also involve in marketing on the internet, and amass quite a number of books, affiliate programs and softwares. Now this blog is intended to keep myself straight on the number of tems that I've collected. Hence the name, Lacibuku, which is "book drawer" or "a drawer filled with books".

Why a drawer? One might wonder. Well, this is the information and e-whatever age, isn't it? Everything gets miniaturised, smaller, thinner, big things in tiny packages. I should think a drawer would be sufficient to hold everything in. When my drawer is full, I can move on to the next one below. (figuratively, of course!)

The e-books and softwares and the what-nots that I've collected over the years, I have to warn you, some of them are outdated. They do make for an interesting reading, though. I also have some new ones, which I will update from time to time. I download stuff from the internet all the time. Most of them are free, but I do buy a few, occasionally. If you have any e-books that you'd like me to look at, feel free to e-mail or leave a comment on this blog. I may not answer straightaway, but I will look into it for you.

More in my next posting. See you next time!
